The Interdisciplinary Studies program, offered through UC's College of Arts and Sciences, gives you the opportunity to customize your own major program.

For the city of Cincinnati, breweries are big business, with dozens of craft locations spread across the area. For University of Cincinnati alumnus Matt Cremeans, the abundant brewery scene provided opportunity for a new career.

Through the program, students begin taking graduate-level courses during their undergraduate years. The first of these courses, Survey to Cosmetic Science, offers a more in-depth look at the field and career opportunities. Additional courses include Intro to Co-op; Intro to Surface, Colloid and Membrane Science and Lab; Advanced Surface, Colloid and Formulation Science; and a co-op set up for year three of the program.

University of Cincinnati professor of communication Ronald L. Jackson II has been named the 2021 recipient of the Orlando L. Taylor Distinguished Scholarship Award in Africana Communication from the National Communication Association.

Madelyn Leembruggen has long excelled in STEM-related subjects, with the study coming naturally to her. The alumna of UC’s College of Arts and Sciences graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a 4.0 in 2018, with degrees in physics, astrophysics and mathematics. Leembruggen has long been aware of the lack of representation of women role models for young girls interested in pursuing their STEM passions.

Over the past year, businesses and organizations have had to adjust because of the pandemic. This was no different for local animal shelters, League for Animal Welfare (LFAW) and Save the Animals Foundation (STAF). As staff and volunteers at these locations return to a more consistent workday, they reflect on the troubles they faced during the pandemic and the adaptations that they have decided to keep because of their efficiency.
